CleanTheVin shows cars from public vehicle auctions. You can use the whole site without an account, and we keep as little about you as we can.

What we keep, and why

• Car alerts. The car you're looking for, and where to send new matches: your Telegram chat, your email address or your WhatsApp number. We use them only to send you the cars you asked for.
• Messages you send us with the contact form: what you write, how to reach you and your IP address, so we can answer and keep spam out.
• Server logs. Like every website, our server logs IP addresses and the pages asked for, for security. They are kept for about 90 days.
• Abuse limits. When you create an email alert we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for one day, so the form can't be used to flood someone's inbox.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. Two small cookies make the site work: the currency you pick and, if you use Telegram alerts, a link that lets this browser add alerts to your Telegram without pressing Start again (gone when you unlink it, or after a year). Our emails have no open or click tracking.

Who else handles it

• DigitalOcean hosts our server, in Toronto, Canada.
• Resend delivers our emails.
• Telegram delivers Telegram alerts.
• Meta (WhatsApp) delivers WhatsApp alerts.

We never sell your data or share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

• A Telegram alert you never switch on: 7 days.
• An email or WhatsApp alert you stop: 90 days, then it is deleted together with your address or number.
• If you reply STOP on WhatsApp, we keep your number on a do-not-message list until you send START.
• If you choose “stop all emails”, we keep only a one-way scrambled form of your address, so we never email it again.

Your choices

Stop an email alert with the link at the bottom of every alert email. Stop a Telegram alert by sending /stop or /stopall to @cleanthevin_bot. For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, deleting it — write to contact@cleanthevin.com.
